Stop Signs
A stop sign is recognised by white text on a red background. Traffic signs are in the shape of a octagon and conform to Australian Standards 1742, AS 1743 and AS 1906.
When an action is not permitted, Australian Standard 1319 specifies that a Prohibition Sign must be used. This indicates to the public which activities are not allowed by using a red annulus and back slash on a white background.
Other forms of stop signs can be used to inform the public that they need to prepare to stop or to warn of no entry to an area.
